We shall begin at the end. Burning dead bodies, cremation, goes wholly against the Bible. The dead corpses of people are laid in tombs, or buried in the ground. The Lord Jesus Himself has left us the example of what we are to do with a dead body.
Revelation 11
Day 169: The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth.1
The ‘inhabitants of the earth’ were hurt with harsh words and lethal plagues, and so there is no greater pleasure than gloating over these ‘troublemakers’ demise. Finally, they could have peace of mind!
Day 170: And after the three and a half days the breath of life from God came into them, and they stood on their feet; and great fear fell upon those who were beholding them.
The ‘inhabitants of the earth’ were hurt with harsh words and lethal plagues, and so there is no greater pleasure than gloating over these ‘troublemakers’ demise. Finally, they could have peace of mind!
Day 171: And they heard a loud voice from Heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they went up into Heaven in the cloud, and their enemies beheld them.
Everyone sees the ‘two witnesses’ ascend to Heaven, and maybe everyone hears the voice, as when Paul met with the risen Lord.1 In the same way John had heard the voice when he was invited to enter Heaven.
Day 172: And in that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; and seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of Heaven.
Everyone sees the ‘two witnesses’ ascend to Heaven, and maybe everyone hears the voice, as when Paul met with the risen Lord.1 In the same way John had heard the voice when he was invited to enter Heaven.
Day 173: The second woe is past; behold, the third woe is coming quickly.
We have arrived at the moment when the seventh ‘trumpet’ is about to be blown. When it blows the ‘mystery of God’, which was proclaimed by the prophets, will be complete, and the words of God will then be fulfilled.
Day 174: Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in Heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.”
The ‘mystery of God’ covers and contains the whole revelation of Jesus Christ with all its accompanying positive and negative effects. The seventh and last trumpet introduces the final act. It will include the seven bowls of the wrath of God, but also the revelation of the Messianic Kingship of God over this world
Day 175: And the twenty-four elders, who sit on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshipped God saying, “We give You thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign.”
The royal Kingship has been accepted and its effect upon the earth and in Heaven will become visible very soon. God has always been the Almighty Creator and Maintainer of the Universe, of the earth as well as the cosmos, with its billions of stars.
Day 176: And the nations were enraged, and Your wrath came, and the time came for the dead to be judged, and the time to reward Your bond-servants the prophets and the saints and those who fear Your Name, the small and the great, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.
The royal Kingship has been accepted and its effect upon the earth and in Heaven will become visible very soon. God has always been the Almighty Creator and Maintainer of the Universe, of the earth as well as the cosmos, with its billions of stars.
Day 177: And the Temple of God which is in Heaven was opened; and the Ark of His Covenant appeared in His Temple, and there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder and an earthquake and a great hailstorm.
This is the last verse of chapter 11. Is this best read as the end-verse of this chapter or the beginning of chapter 12? The division of the text into chapters dates back to the Middle Ages with the division into 22 chapters from the fifth century while the sub-division into verses…
Day 178: …and within His temple was seen the Ark of His Covenant… 1
This nineteenth verse of chapter 11 is not only the hinge between chapter 11 and chapter 12; it is also a key verse to understanding the spiritual background of many events in the Book of Revelation. The Lord acts on the basis of His Covenant…
Day 179: …and within His Temple was seen the Ark of His Covenant… 1
The Old and the New Covenant were made with Israel (and all the other Covenants since Abraham as well), but a people from the Gentiles will also be gathered in.2 People from the Gentile world can become engrafted into the New Covenant that was made with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
