Day 131: The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.1

WEEK 19 | DAY 131
REVELATION 8:12

Enormous quantities of pulverised stone are thrown into the atmosphere when nuclear explosions take place above the earth’s surface. The energy from each A-bomb of the kilotonne class is capable of pulverising and vaporising approximately a thousand tonnes of rock. Each H-bomb of the megaton class can do the same to a million tonnes. Liquefied rock and dust from the pulverised rock is hurled into the air by the force of the explosion up into the stratosphere, where it spreads out above every continent. A simple volcanic eruption such as that of the Krakatoa in the Sunda Strait in 1883 produced peculiar changes of colour and a veiling of the sun that was visible for several years, even in Europe. This is child’s play compared to what these atomic bombs can do to the atmosphere. A thirty per cent reduction in luminosity is certainly not out of the question; nor is blood-red changes of colour of the dust. We already heard that under the sixth seal the sun became black like sackcloth made of goat hair and the moon turned blood red.2

And if a whole series of these rockets fall back blazing and burning into the atmosphere of the earth, at the end of the night or early in the morning, they look like stars falling out of the sky.3 They first reflect the sun’s light, like ‘planets’. Then they rain down on earth like a rain of meteorites, with terrible consequences ‘only’ a third once again, fortunately.

The ‘Day of the Lord’ is a day of darkness and gloom according to Joel.4 People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, the Lord says,5 because of the signs in the sun, moon and stars, and the roaring and tossing of the sea, perhaps because of enormous tidal waves as a result of movements of the sea due to natural or other causes, like impacts of bombs. The Old Testament prophets testify to this.6 The sun, moon and stars proclaim God’s goodness and honour, His majesty7 and mercy. Almighty God turns history upside down, however, and makes Creation return to chaos. Even the sky is partially extinguished above the scorched earth, the singed trees and the poisonous waters. The Church, Israel and other groups of true believers who maybe were able to be saved in the nick of time, at the last moment possible, are to know: “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”8

REMARKS:

• It is becoming increasingly clear why more people are seeking refuge in the caves and caverns as described in Revelation 6:15. Built shelters in homes, in cellars or wherever people made hiding-places, offer no adequate protection against these forces. People may think: maybe caves in mountains offer more protection. Maybe one can find some shelter somewhere in the open country ‘by coincidence’, because you could be buried by debris if you stay indoors. We often see in the media what an earthquake is capable of in this respect; imagine how much worse it will be if all these (natural) disasters break loose.
• For ‘elements’, the building blocks of our earth and Universe, look at the ‘remarks’ of ‘Day 314’.
